When is it okay?

When and why is it ever okay to use the N word? When is it okay to use any term that disrespects another person? Maybe it's just a form of expression but I really don't get it.

I have to agree with you on this one. I do not see the point in using a term that disrepects an entire group of people. It does not really matter how you view the word...what about the rest of the population? Language is universal...and if everyone cannot see eye to eye on certain words and find them to be offensive, then why do we continue to use them?...As far as I'm concerned...these words are just barriers to keep us separated.

The day of our discussion in class regarding the “n” word I don’t think I speak for myself when I say that we that stayed silent most likely agree with your statement but didn’t verbalize it. I know I did. thanks unique mind. :)

If we didn't agree why did we not speak up? I know I didn't and I regret it. The only thing we have is our voice. Why don't we or I use it?

We'll,

I've read different kinds of articles regarding the "N" word. I've taken classes that have topics regarding the "N" word. I've had discussion with other individuals who has understanding regarding the "N" word. We'll the word has many implied meanings from my understanding so far... Maybe it depends on whose world your trying to use it on, and how you use it. However, I am not going to use the word, I am just trying to understand.

So your question is "when is it okay" for all of us to say the "N" word?"

I don't know, maybe when all people had an agreement when they say its Okay.

Agree! After the long discussion we had in class, I still don't understand why people use the "N" word. What I do know is that one of the reasons why we can't be one, is that we keep on separating each other with different vocabulary and symbols that excludes one ethic group from another. I never liked the sound of the"N" word. It sounds despicable and no matter how people say it, or use it, it makes many of us feel uncomfortable.
