TESTING....

I DONT KNOW IF YOU GUYS AGREE BUT TEST ALWAYS MAKE ME SOOO NERVOUS. I BELIEVE WHAT MAKES ME NERVOUS IS TRYING TO MEMORIZE SO MANY THINGS AT ONCE.. TEST TAKING FOR ME IS NEVER GOOD. MY HANDS TEND TO SHAKE AND MY STOMACH HURTS.. I HAVE TRIED MANY WAYS IN WHICH TO CONTROL IT. I TRIED LISTENING TO MUSIC RIGHT BEFORE, I TAKE DEEP BREATHS AND GO OVER MY NOTES BUT NOTHING WORKS. CAN ANY ONE "HELP" ESPECIALLY WITH FINALS COMING UP.

Kinda sounds like performance anxiety. It's natural to be nervous, try a stress ball, cut back on caffeine (if your a coffee drinker) and most importantly be confident. Anxiety tends to take your focus off of the actual material and just stress on results of the test, so just accept it and know that stressing isn't going to help. Trick yourself psychologically, devalue the importance of the test and just take it. Hope I made sense. I wouldnt recommend meds, as it could create a dependency. Good luck.

I could tell you what has worked for me, since we all have different study habits. I read all the chapters, take notes, and try to attend to most classes. I also try not to think too much about the exam, since this will make me anxious. Oh yes.. one more thing, I try not to memorize concepts, instead I use lots of imagination and try to go back in time with each thinker, reading, and lecture. Hope this helps, take care.

I liked what the other two posters said; all seem to be great ways to maybe make you not so nervous before a test.

Normally on test day I am very focused but down playing it is very important... You need to know that it is not the end of the world and that seeing that this is college, you can always re-take the class. One thing I noticed, is that I am most nervous or curios on the first test, and then once I see how the teacher thinks whereas testing goes, I go away at least knowing that I know how the next test will be.

So if I bombed the first test, I aim to ace the next one.

Don't over stress, it will only distract you, take a deep breath and do not rush.

I hope you do well on your finals. If all else fails, maybe you can pray
