Sociology and Family Structure

Check out this video by a Sociology professor that discusses how family structures that changed and evolved into what they are seen as today. It was intersting to see and to hear a person's point of view regarding this subject. It's a little long, but in my opinion worth watching. HOPE YOU LIKE IT :)

I agree with the professor in the video. Unfortunately, he speaks the truth. I strongly believe that the lower income families have more financial struggles and less moral support. This can cause a lot of stress in a relationship, which in turn can lead to a break-up or divorce (#1 reason of fights between couples is $$$). A lot of us were raised by single parents who struggled to provide. There may have been the absence of a father, etc. Sometimes people just know what they've experienced in life and don't know any better. It's easier to bail, then to take responsibility. I strongly feel that the underprivileged are at a disadvantage from day one. I don't believe that seminars or mentoring of coaches will solve this problem. (although it is a step in the right direction) I strongly believe that this crisis of the family structure stems from SES and the lack of resources or programs. The economic crisis we are facing does not help the situation. If only I had a magic wand to solve this problem.

you do have one. it is your faith and vision. clear perception goes a long way, as energy.

I believe we are energy, and as such we can make things work one way or the other. If we see things from a negative perspective, or a positive one it is all up to us. "If there is a will, there is a way"

Although those that come from low income families may have it more difficult especially those that come from single parent households, I have been a witness to people that have overcome these obstacles due to will power. Both my parents were raised in poverty stricken and broken homes, when the came to America they vowed that they would do everything possible have their children live the opposite of what they did. We, as humans have the capacity to accomplish so much just by having the power of will. We can succumb to the unfortunate circumstances or decide that this isn't for us and find a way to get out and persevere. I guess I believe too much in the human spirit :)
